Gardens and outdoor spaces contain tall, narrow utility elements at ground level: well casings with above-ground risers, vertical pressure tanks, tall standpipes with fittings, backflow preventer assemblies on vertical risers, upright pump shafts, and elevated junction boxes. These objects are too tall for any other GARTENDEK model — the next tallest is M-03 at 32 cm, leaving a +10 cm gap that only M-04 fills.

Simultaneously, these objects are often not very wide — ø 15–50 cm — so they don't need the massive footprint of M-01 (109 × 89 cm) or M-03 (85 × 83 cm).

Traditional solutions fall short. Natural stone is visually ideal but weighs 200–350 kg, cannot be hollowed to shelter equipment, and costs €800–3,000+. Budget plastic covers are lightweight but their painted surfaces fade, crack, and chalk within two to three outdoor seasons.

The M-04 resolves this as the tall-narrow specialist: 42 cm height + ø 51 cm coverage in the smallest M-series body (68 × 62 cm). It is the only GARTENDEK model with enough vertical clearance for objects above 32 cm.

The M-04 is a hollow shell with a tall, angular, blocky boulder shape — steep near-vertical sides, sharp fracture-like edges, and an asymmetric peak (≈38–42 cm). The interior provides a usable coverage diameter of ~51 cm, accommodating standard EU well casings (ø 125–160 mm) with significant clearance. The vertical volume is sufficient for equipment up to ≈38–39 cm tall (accounting for wall thickness at the crown).

Installation is immediate. Place the stone directly over the target object on any surface: grass, soil, gravel, paving. No anchoring, no foundation, no tools. Total setup time: <2 minutes. To access the equipment underneath, lift the stone. At 11.50 kg, the M-04 is fully manageable by one person.

Stability comes from the stone's own weight and its base footprint (68 × 62 cm). For exposed or windy locations, landscape anchoring stakes around the base can be used.

Seasonal behavior is neutral. The fiberglass composite structure does not absorb water, does not expand or contract meaningfully with temperature changes, and tolerates a continuous operating range from −30 °C to +60 °C. The stone performs identically in summer heat, autumn rain, and winter frost. It does not need to be removed, covered, or stored during any season.

Base contact — the stone has a non-sealed base and rests directly on the ground surface. It is not hermetically sealed; natural micro air exchange between the interior cavity and the surrounding environment is possible through the ground contact zone.

Safety and load limitations — the product supports 100+ kg of static load under normal conditions. It is not a load-bearing structure, is not designed for impact loads, and is not intended for jumping or active play without prior structural adaptation of the product. Use in children's and public zones is possible with a pre-agreed usage scenario, engineering adaptation of the structure, and coordination of safety requirements.

The M-04 is constructed from a multi-layer fiberglass composite (GFK) — the same class of material used in boat hull construction, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio and long-term weather resistance.

The outer surface is a marble chip and marble powder gelcoat of the ISO/NPG class. The color is not painted, printed, or applied as a film. Instead, natural stone chips and stone dust of different colors are mixed directly into the gelcoat compound during manufacturing. This means the color and grain are embedded in the material itself, producing a surface that ages gracefully rather than peeling, flaking, or fading.

Handcrafted production (*In Handarbeit gefertigt*) — color and dimensional deviations of 3–5 cm are within normal range. At 1 metre viewing distance, the M-04 is not identifiable as artificial.

Compared with typical alternatives:

The M-04 occupies a deliberate middle position: lighter than stone, far more durable and realistic than budget plastic, and uniquely combining a hollow interior with a load-bearing, marine-grade composite shell that doubles as a garden seat.

Maintenance is minimal. Clean occasionally with water and a soft brush. No sealing, repainting, or chemical treatment is ever required.

Equipment concealment: cover a well casing with above-ground riser (standard EU ø 125–160 mm casings fit with clearance), conceal a vertical pressure tank / membrane expansion vessel (ø 35–50 cm), hide a backflow preventer assembly on a vertical irrigation riser (35–42 cm height), cover a tall standpipe or garden tap on a high riser (30–40 cm). Also suitable for an upright sump pump discharge column, gas meter riser, tall pond filter or UV clarifier, or tall electrical distribution box.

Decorative seating stone (Sitzstein): the M-04 is the only GARTENDEK model positioned as a “Sitzstein” — a decorative garden seat at natural chair height (42 cm). It can conceal equipment below and serve as seating in a relaxation zone; 100+ kg load capacity supports functional sitting.

Vertical landscape accent: the tall, angular silhouette (42 cm) makes it effective as a vertical stone accent in rock gardens, pond edges, flower beds, and elevated areas. Unlike flat-profile models (M-01/M-02), it does not disappear in tall grass or summer foliage.

Tight-space installations: the M-04 has the most compact footprint in the M-series (68 × 62 cm) — ideal for narrow strips, areas near fences and hedges, and compact courtyards.

The M-04 is the tallest model in the entire GARTENDEK range: 42 cm height (10 cm more than the next tallest M-03 at 32 cm). At the same time, it has the smallest diameter (ø 51 cm) and lowest price (€335.71) in the M-series — making it both the height specialist and the entry-price M-series model. At 11.50 kg (tied with M-02), it is the lightest M-series stone and the only one fully manageable by one person.

Choose M-04 when:

• the object is taller than 32 cm and fits within ø 51 cm
• you want a decorative garden seat (Sitzstein) at natural chair height
• space is compact (smallest M-series footprint 68 × 62 cm)
• you want M-series quality at the lowest M-series price
